The month of August is National Black Business Month, recognizing and celebrating the important contributions from the nearly two-million black-owned businesses across the country.
In this episode, we talk to Derrick McGary of Texarkana, Texas who has made quite the impact in his community. He is an entrepreneur, but he also got his start serving his community at just 21-years-old. It wasn’t until he was 38 that he found what he was truly passionate about.
He shares:
- What it was like serving on a city council at a young age
- Encouragement for those who may not know what they want to do in life
- What it takes to find your passion
- His thoughts on the current state of our country in the midst of a pandemic and the re-emergence of the Black Lives Matter movement
